In Jakarta with the Asian Development Bank: a five-day regional workshop on TBML

Last week, in Jakarta, I had the opportunity to speak as an expert in a five-day regional workshop on TBML, jointly organised by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and UNODC, with the support of the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office FCDO Services and Indonesia’s Financial Intelligence Unit Pusat Pelaporan dan Analisis Transaksi Keuangan (PPATK).

The workshop focused on strengthening operational coordination in TBML investigations by enhancing participants’ understanding of financial flows in trade transactions, improving the quality of financial intelligence exchange among agencies, and building practical skills to detect, investigate, and disrupt complex TBML schemes. It brought together 40 experts from FIUs and LEAs across Southeast Asia and the Pacific, including representatives from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
